Historical Fact and Materials Used:

Sri Shuba Drishti Ganapathy at first adorned the card printed for the devout ceremony at Hemamalini Mandapam, Chennai, in which Paramjyoti Siddhar participated. ``Distribute this picture as a vigraha too among as many people as possible, but don't make it a business proposition,'' Bhasskaradoss was told. But carving it in bronze could prove unaffordable for many, even if the artist was only going to charge the cost incurred. Just then an idea struck him.

This is where the influence, contact and experience with Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi helped Bhaskaradoss. Earlier Swami had beckoned him to Parthi to have the pillars and ceiling at the Sai Kulwanth Prayer Hall aesthetically and artistically carved. The task was mammoth all right because it is a huge area with a seating capacity of around 50,000 people. But the real challenge was he had to complete it in exactly 20 days — a job which by normal standards could take 10 months to one year! Bhaskaradoss attributes the accomplishment of it within the stipulated time to the grace of God. After a lot of deliberation, with plaster of Paris, fiber resin, marble powder and other such materials, the deed was done. Strong, unbreakable, light weight and permanent structures were made.

So instead of bronze, Bhaskaradoss created a mould of Ganapathy with the same materials and thus made it cost effective. Today one can place an order with him and get it in the molded or mounted picture form at an affordable price. The image comes with an informative booklet. Ask him about the various Kann Drishti Ganapathy pictures in the market and this is what he says: "The very name is wrong and misleading... I asked Paramjyoti Swamigal about it and he said that the form does not strictly follow the one we worship as Sri Shuba Drishti Ganapathy, and hence will not have this power and effect. Just let it be. You go about your job sincerely..." And that's what I am doing now.... I may have the copyright, which I can probably establish through a court of law. But Ganapathy does not belong to me alone. The Lord is for all."
